Maku comes from the Mapuche word Makuñ meaning “woolen cloak”. A cloak woven with natural wool of dark grey shades, going through coffee tones until becoming white. This clothing was exclusively male, its use was forbidden to women.

The ecoregion of Puna is a biome of montane grasslands and shrublands, we find it in the foothills of the central Andes. It extends through the highlands of Peru, Bolivia and Chile and northern Argentina, 3000 – 3500m above sea level and below the 4500 – 5000m altitude, an area of permanent snow.
Just east of downtown, this Austin neighborhood exudes cool with its seemingly never-ending supply of bars, food trucks, art studios, Mexican eateries and live music venues.
